The deadline for submitting your UK Self Assessment tax return for the 2025/26 tax year is 31 January 2027. Here are a few key points for your filing:
You must submit your online return by the 31 January 2027 deadline. After this date, HMRC will charge penalties.
If you would like Holmes Accountancy to draft your Self Assessment return on your behalf, you should aim to provide all relevant information to us no later than 31 October 2026.
If you believe that you may have difficulty drafting or preparing your Self Assessment return on time due to illness or other extenuating circumstances, please contact us at your earliest convenience. We may be able to assist you in contacting HMRC.
If you miss the deadline, you will initially receive a £100 penalty notice. This amount will increase if you delay filing your tax return for too long. You will also be charged daily interest at 8% (rate subject to change).
