From autumn 2025 it will be mandatory for company directors and people with significant control (PSCs) to verify their identity with Companies House.
This is a new legal requirement under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 to help prevent people using companies for illegal purposes. It would be beneficial for you to verify yourself now, before it becomes a requirement, this is because you will avoid delays, especially if your company has multiple officers.
You can verify online, in person at selected post offices or by using an Authorised Corporate Service Provider – this could be Holmes Accountancy as your registered tax agent.
Please note that you won’t be able to verify your identity if any of the personal information on your identity records doesn’t match the information on Companies House register.
